How happiness curriculum can help kids till schools reopen amidst covid-19 pandemic

Do you think our children have endured an immense loss of physical and mental activity during this extended lockdown?

Unfortunately, the answer is TRUE
Here's how

Based on a survey in India, 27% of the parents have said that their children are not getting their daily routine of physical activity (PA) in the form of playing outdoor and indoor games which is a prominent part of NPS Uttarahalli's extracurricular activities.

According to a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, published in June, due to lockdown, loneliness has led to high rates of depression and anxiety in children. They state "A pandemic and lockdown are not in our mental schema, our bodies are finding ways to cope up with it. Children are experiencing sleep disturbances because of an increase in anxiety and frustration". This is deteriorating the mental status of the children.

What is Recommended?

WHO has made an immense study on the effects of physical activity on young populations signifying that “All children and adolescents should do at least 60 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous-intensity physical activity.” Physical activity significantly increases energy and also promotes the psycho-motor development of the children. Adding to this a constant engagement with kids helps reduce stress and anxiety levels.

What is the challenge in implementing these recommendations?

If you observe, We hate doing activities even though we are rewarded if we don't enjoy doing them. It's quite simple, you avoid activities you don't enjoy, but you won't raise a single word when you are happy doing the same activity.
